Liberty Challenge
World Outrigger Competition

(June 2001) This event took place starting at the USS Intrepid Space Museum on the Hundson River. These canoes made their way to Brooklyn Bridge before passing by the Statue of Liberty. They ended the race where they had started.

N2NOV acting as net control was at OEM headquarters (7 WTC) utilizing both ham radio frequencies and marine VHF. Imagine the surprise of local boaters when a whopping 50 watt signal from the 50th floor overlooking the lower Hudson River identifies itself as "LIBERTY CONTROL"
